Pocket

This is typical pocket! She is an 8 year old female chihuahua. And despite the fact that she is spayed, she is still very much a bitch. But I mean that with all the love in my heart.

Pocket isn't actually my dog. . .although I feed her, and care for her, she is actually Mole's dog. Mole had terrible separation anxiety when I first got him, and nothing seemed to work. And while I don't advocate this for everyone, getting a second dog seemed like the best option for our household. And I guess it's good that pocket isn't really my dog, because I didn't even choose her. A friend who worked in a near by shelter brought her over and said "I found your second dog, her name is pocket, here." And that is how pocket came to live with us.

I'm glad she is here because she is my baby. She is always up for a cuddle and is the only one of my kids who doesn't mind being carried and coddled. But she still keeps me on my toes with that attitude of hers. Her desire to lay in bed all day instead of going to work like the rest of us makes me envious of being a dog! There is a saying in our house, whatever pocket wants, pocket gets!

She loves being in charge of everyone and everything. She growls, snaps, and snarles at Abby - even when Abby isn't doing anything wrong. She has also been known to bite a few people on occasion. And while I don't think that this is at all permissible, she is only 5 pounds on a "fat" day, and she always gives fair warning to people, but people never seem to believe that this cute little thing could have such an attitude!

Pocket isn't really as bad as I've portrayed her. She really is a very sweet dog. She is the only one of the kids that actually likes to greet strangers. And she LOVES kids. Not sure where she got that from! Pocket is super easy going and adapts to change well. She doesn't ask for much and has taken all our life's changes in stride. She has truly been a fun companion for the past 7 years and I am glad that I have gotten to know not only her serious side, but also her fun and silly side.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention that this little one just LOVES beer. . .she truly is my child!
