Vacation - part 2

After the family fun times, and a crazy 80th birthday party, we headed up to New York. Despite my family's obsession with traveling, I have never been to New York before this summer. Not sure why since its only a 3 hour train ride from my grandmother's house. I am kinda glad that we waited so long because I felt that I really got a chance to enjoy it - especially now that I have my fun camera -which, by the way, gets heavier and heavier as the days go on.

Like most people, I took pictures of the Statue Of Liberty

Took pictures off the Empire State Building

Took pictures inside Radio City Music Hall

But the highlight of my New York trip was meeting the Osbournes

Finally Did It

This has absolutely nothing to do with my vacation, but since I haven't gone back to work just yet, I feel that it can still count and not be too out of order.

For almost two years I have wanted to get another tattoo - this one makes 3. I wanted to have the actual prints of my dogs feet placed somewhere on my body. I have gone back and forth as to where to put it - part of the reason it took so long to get. But once I decided where to place it I had to actually go. Thats always the hardest part for me because they use *needles* and they might accidentally hit my arm vein. That's another blog altogether, tho.

Once I decided to go - this morning - I had to get the dog's prints. Needless to say, there was some biting and lots of blue fur. I think it was all worth it in the end, although you should really ask mac's mom because she endured the most of the biting!

So, Mole is the one on the bottom, Pocket is the one on the top. There is no outline, it was only shaded. She made it look like their real prints with darker and lighter spots. I love it so much and almost cried when I saw it.

Abby's will come later. . .

Vacation -part 1

I just got back from a vacation. Like most vacations, we packed too many things into too short of a time period. I'm glad that I have three days off before I have to go back to work because I am exhausted!

One of the craziest things that happened on my trip was all the bug bites I got. This isn't too unusual since I was in Maryland and there are mosquitoes over there, but this year they were worse then ever before. And my grandpap thinks that they aren't really mosquitoes after all -he says that they are more gnat like and that their bites are much worse. Considering the short time I was outside and the sheer number of bites that I got, I would have to agree. Also, I had a strange reaction to these bites that I have never had with regular mosquitoes. My bites were larger, redder, blotchy, itched more severely, and lasted longer then any bites I have had. After 3 days I finally broke down and took some Benadryl - then I took that twice a day for 4 days! I still have small red spots on my legs!

Back of my left leg:

Top of my right:

All together I had 28 bites - including one on my big toe! If any one has any idea what kinds of creatures would do this, please let me know so I can start a campaign to eradicate them immediately.

Abby Bobblehead

Mac's mom posted this super funny video about Booker Bobblehead. When booker gets excited he wags his tail and his head starts to bobble. Its a hilarious video and almost made me want a bobble head dog for myself.

Well, I got my wish, but it wasn't as fun as I had hoped it would be. Abby had bobble head last night. It lasted for about 5 minutes and continued through me petting her and her laying her head down on the pillow - the only place this now spoiled dog will sleep.

It scared me quite a bit, but since I had just taken some sleeping medicine for my cold, I was SOL for driving her to the E-vet. Once the fam got home, the bobbling had stopped and she was sleeping soundly. No need to rush her in and pay a fortune when I could wait till morning and talk to a vet I trusted.

His opinion: mini seizure. Yep, seizure. He said its possible that she had some minor trauma to her head and that there is a small scar which is causing the trembling. He said it may get worse, or it may not. There is really no way to tell what the cause is unless I do an MRI - not gonna happen at this stage. So for now, the only thing to do is just wait and see. See if it happens again and see if it gets worse.
